Class Description

This 2 session class  class teaches you how to get your dog to enjoy going to mat and lying down. This is an important skill, especially for highly excitable dogs.  It helps them learn to make good behavioral choices and to calm themselves.  It is a handy alternative behavior for dogs who are  excited about guests entering your home.  And mostly, it’s really fun to shape this behavior step by step and watch your dog respond by getting crazy about being on the mat.

Mat training is a part of the new trend toward platform training.  It has many practical uses including:

Keep out from underfoot in the kitchen by creating a defined space
Keep visitors happy by preventing rushing and mugging them
Teaching solid stays
Home away from home:  When you travel, go to restaurants and other activities you can include your dog who can lie quietly out of the way
Therapy dog work

8 PM classes: We offer a 25% discount for those attending the 8 PM classes when those classes are scheduled. Price shown is the discounted price.
