This six (6) week class covers all of the AKC Beginner Novice and Novice exercises. Precision obedience and cue discrimination provides challenges that build great attention, good timing, versatility and teamwork. Whether you are preparing for competition-level or fun-level work, this class provides a solid foundation of technique. The emphasis is on heeling with attention, which is an enjoyable form of exercise for both of you.
For dogs over 6 months of age. Dogs and handlers will be in motion much of the time.
The American Kennel Club now welcomes mixed breed dogs in all performance competitions.
Pre-Requisites / Requirements
Basic Obedience skills at a reasonably reliable level and a desire to do more with your dog.

Susan attended her first Clicker Expo in 2015, which shaped her approach to training with markers and positive reinforcement. Because of her curious mind and belief in continuing education, Susan regularly attends animal conferences and workshops. Among her credentials are a CPDT-KA and ANWI (Associate Nose Work Instructor) and she is a member of both APDT and IAABC. Susan has also competed and titled both of her dogs, Niko and Tot, in dog sports that include obedience, rally, K9 Nose Work, AKC Scent Work and tricks.
As the Lead Trainer at Train the Bay, Nancy spent the last three decades dedicated to her training work, to developing the program, and to helping Bay Area dogs and their families. In addition to the hundreds of students she teaches every year, she is the voice behind Berkeley Humane’s free Behavior Advice Hotline, and she evaluates and supports the training of shelter dogs at Berkeley Humane.
